Creon Drug and Medication User Reviews

I was started in Creon because I had a malabsorption issue due to gastric bypass surgery. I found an immediate relief within the first day or two of taking Creon. I started having regular stools my abdominal pain stopped my gas stopped my bloated feeling stopped. I just couldn't believe the difference and I've been suffering with this for a long time.

Had acute Pancreatitis attack. 18 Days in ICU, 30 more in recovery, lost 40 pounds, no appetite. Surgery to provide drain for pseudocyst. FINALLY prescribed CREON and I am happy. Regained appetite, putting on weight, increased energy, increased alertness. Side effects of GAS, Bloating, frequent peeing are worth it.

My dosage had to be increased several times to get a positive result.

I eventually lose any Appetit I had and was nauseous every day. Especially in the evening.

Extreme stomach gas and flatulence up to 5 hour after eating even a small, low-fast, non-diary meal. Drinking water exacerbates these side effects. Makes sleeping a challenge d/t the gas.

My son was born with hyperinsulinism. It is rare condition that causes the pancreas to produce too much insulin which in return causes hypoglycemia. When he was 4 weeks old, he had a near total pancreatectomy and 98% of his pancreas was removed. The other 2% remaining are just lingering cells That are still hyper producing too much insulin even after surgery. His condition is way more manageable and he's able to live without a steady drip of dextrose pumping through a picc line in his veins. After the removal of his pancreas he was put on Creon to help break down and digest his food. It works great for him. We haven't had any issues, thank God! He is now 8 months old and doing amazing. He takes 2 pills with any food he consumes and it has allowed him to gain weight and receive the nutrients needed through his food. He also takes a multivitamin daily which the Creon also helps to absorb. Because he is so little, he can't tell me if he is feeling bad or hurting but he never cries or acts as if he is in any pain. His stools are however all over the place with consistency which I'm sure comes from issues with not having a pancreas according to his GI doctor.

Creon has been a life saver for me. Prior to use I had severe abdominal pain. Had for several years. thought it was my stomach. After a bout of severe pancreatitis and eventually a gastric ultrasound I have inflammation. Pain is gone. CT's didn't show the inflammation.

I have a pancreatic leak, a side effect of liver bile duct surgery, and taking 3x 25000 (yes 25k) with every meal. Have been leaking around 700ml of pancreatic fluid daily into an external drain for over 2 months now. It seems to work fine I sometimes get stomach ache but nothing serious. Stools are soft. I usually take creon in the middle of the meal, but have taken 10mins after eating also. No idea of cost as NHS cover all costs (except £8) for the 3 month prescription.

I have Crohn's disease, I've had two surgeries, and have problems digesting food. My Doctor put me on Creon, and within an hour after taking it I had the worst case of brain fog ever. Like being stoned, but not in a good way. I tried it for several days and then stopped. Waited several days and tried it again with the same result. My doctor said it "could not" have been from the Creon............well, I'm sure that it was.

This drug has been life saver for me. The only side effect I have is constipation. I take 24000 with each meal and snack. I have never drank alcohol or smoked and have had pancreatic pain ever since I can remember so I must have been born with this. It stopped working 4 months ago. Lost 25 lbs. in 5 weeks. Went to doctor because I had stopped eating and was getting weak. Without Creon I would have died. Thank you Creon!

I did out my pancreatic organ failure by giving my go Dr.a stool sample. She put me on this medicine and I feel it helping a little. I need to stick with the diet that comes along with it. I still have the left side pain and back pain. I will give a up soon!

had whipple procedure 2013. Currently taking 36,000 u with meals. MD told me to take 2 with meals and 1 with snacks. I find it gives me a lot of gas and diarrhea. Sometimes abdominal pain. I cut it to 1 with meals and 24,000 u with snacks. I still have diarrhea and lots of gas. Anyone else have these symptoms?

I have had IBS for many years and within the past two years have added microscopic colitis followed by having to have my gallbladder removed. My body never adjusted very well after the gallbladder was removed; always excess gas and long, long bouts (weeks) of constant diarrhea. When my gastroenterologist suggested that I tried Creon, I said, yeah, yeah. After taking it for one meal I was astonished; it cut down on my gasto distress so, so much and the diarrhea almost never occurs now. I feel that the Creon has made the most difference of anything ever prescribed for my gastro issues.

I have pancreatic Cancer and this medication has helped me with digestion of food, I was leery at first but seems to really help.

Had whipple procedure June 2013. Recently I stopped taking creon because it is causing a lot of gas and loose stools, about 5times a day. I take 24000. I will see how it goes. Maybe I need to take less.

after 3 mos uncontrolled diarrhea was diagnosed with pancreatic insuff and started on 36000 units Creon with each meal. I now am able to live an almost normal life adhering to low fat, carb diet eating mostly natural foods with no additives, preservatives or artificial sweetners. Never had pancreatitis or other precursor diagnoses but did use alcohol at times heavily. Thank God the wake up call came before it was too late. Creon works just make sure to drink lots of water, tea etc. Thank God for my doctors; now I think I will see my grandchildren grow up.

I am wondering what to eat with this since I don't eat much after losing my colon also and now the pancreas is not functioning right. I don't drink but smoke which I am working on stopping.

Being diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis from years of smoking I was prescribed Creon. This drugs works well . I still have days with stomach discomfort for no apparent reason as I stick faithfully to my low to no fat diet . The biggest problem is even with insurance it is so costly that I am having a hard time paying for it. There is no generic for it and even though the main ingredient is available at a heath food store the dosage needed is no less expensive.Creon is King that is for sure, it works if you can afford it !

I have type 1 diabetes, celiac disease and pancreatic enzyme insufficiency. The Creon raise your blood sugar because it makes you metabolize your carbs. I am on a pump and use a continuous glucose monitor (CGM). It is a difficult balancing act but the technology I wear allows me to see my sugars 24/7 and make adjustments with the pump. The pancreatic enzyme insufficiency is much harder to deal with than either of the other two conditions, but I am fit, very healthy active 61 year old female and have had diabetes for 51 years. Other people have much harder stuff to deal with.

BEFORE TAKING CREON I HAD 4 VERY PAINFUL ABDOMNAL ATTAKS. AFTER SEVERAL TEST I WAS DIAGNOST WITH CRONIC PAINCREATITIS. SINCE I HAVE BEEN ON CREON I HAVE BEEN WITH OUT PAIN.
