Generic Name: Montelukast for COPD (montelukast)
Montelukast for COPD Reviews
"I've had COPD for over 10 years, and I was taking 1 montelukast 10 mg in the evenings. After reading about the half-life of the drug, it seemed to me to be most effective when I was asleep, so walking is my exercise-induced asthma. I started taking my 1 10 mg pill in the mornings, and it has turned my activity around. I feel much, MUCH better breathing in the daytime. I can tell my bronchial tubes are open. I have had no nighttime issues either."
"I've had COPD for several years and was prescribed Singulair (montelukast) to prevent sleep time exacerbations. I mean severe too! One night when in the hospital, boom! It hit me and I was even on oxygen. Well, since taking montelukast, even as the generic of Singulair (as some may agree, generics often don't have the same effect as brand names), I have had no nighttime problems."
"I have been on montelukast 10mg for very long now. It has improved my quality of life combined with a few other meds such as Sereflo pump and Theophylline 300mg. I take mine at night as that is when I experience issues breathing. I have found that I can under no circumstances leave the montelukast as I get SEVERE chest pains if I am an hour or few minutes late with taking my pill. The pains are EXTREMELY unbearable & I cannot take it. I have come off the medication before & know that it is seasonal but this pain is stopping me from leaving the medication. No doctor can tell me what or why the pains are but I will tell you it feels as if I can rip my chest open. I feel the pain in my lungs from the front at the back of my rib cage. It is terrible. I feel this medication has made me stay on it & nothing in the leaflet says anything of the sort of experience I have been having for years if I am slightly later than 24 hours use."
"It really helps to keep the lungs open. Makes coughing more productive, would be lost without it. The only side effect I think it has is when you first start taking it, it makes you not want to sleep. Give that about 7 to 10 days and it helps you actually sleep better at night."
Singulair (montelukast) "I have found 1 x 10mg Singulair tablet at bedtime helps to stop exacerbations in the night."
"I have COPD. My lung capacity is down to 40%. My pulmonary doctor prescribed Montelukast. I developed a very severe cough. After discontinuing Montelukast, the cough disappeared."
"Great improvement in my COPD. Currently using Dulera, 2 puffs, 2 times a day. Now down to 1 puff, 2 times a day. Many more COPD patients should be on this drug."
"I took this medication montelukast for about a month, and had suicidal ideation while on it. I just read that research says it can make children suicidal, but I’m 45, and it does the same for me."
"Been on this many yes, 0 side that I can remember Still take it and still works"
Singulair (montelukast) "should come in a stronger dosage"
"Dried up my excessive mucus in my lungs within days. Works great."
"DO I KEEP TAKING montelukast somehow my breathing is worse I have COPD"
