In my teen years, I was up to 1600 mg/day and still having asthma attacks requiring a trip to the emergency room with possible overnight admissions. Once I turned 18, I sought out my own doctors on my own insurance and went to an asthma specialist which started my journey into an actual life including walking and/or running or just exercising. My asthma has been well controlled by taking an inhaled steroid like Breo as well as an allergy pill (zyrtec). That's it. I can't remember the last time I've had to use my rescue inhaler other than when getting a cold or flu. Please remember that doctors are using their "best guess" to figure out how to treat you and question them if the medication given doesn't seem like it's working. I wish I had an advocate when I was younger."
