I was prescribed Pulmicort that I mix with salime water and nasal rinse for my nasal polyps problem that I``ve been dealing with for 24 years. I`ve been taking it for about 6 years now; twice a day and the max dose. It helped my polyps but at some point; it`s not enough and I have to use Prednisone twice a year. I`ve been noticing bad side effects lately; fatigue, unexplained weight loss, aches and pain all over my body for no reason and mood swings; depression. I didn`t know whhat was causing it but after reading the long term side effects; it completely makes sense. It might of caused me Adrenal difficiency; so i will get my hormones tested. It` not worth it long term and I will wean off of it on my own and get something else that is less hazardous to my health.

I was diagnosed with asthma in my early 20's. My whole childhood I would get wheezy doing any physical activities but my parents just thought it was allergies. At a doctor's appointment in my 20's I had to physically run to my appointment because my car broke down, my doctor heard the wheezing and said I had asthma (made sense to me) and prescribed Pulmicort to control my asthma and bricanyl for any attacks. I've been on Pulmicort about 20 years now and never really found it controlled my mild asthma very well anyways but took it because my doctor said so. As the years went by I've developed other health problems that I just chalked up to aging but now wondering if it's the Pulmicort. I developed acid reflux so bad no matter what I eat so I'm taking an acid pump inhibitor for that now, always tired, and the worst thing that has been going on for so many years now I can't even remember a time when I felt good, I have chronic diarrhea all the time, so badly I even asked for a colonoscopy to see if I had colon cancer, nope, and the specialist just suggested I eat more fibre. That has not helped, taking probiotics has not helped, last year developed diverticulitis. Now I'm wondering if all of this is from Pulmicort and I'm not taking it one more day. It never dawned on me that my ailments could potentially be caused by medication, I've just lived with it for so long now.

Pulmicort coats my lungs so well my airways don't feel irritated all day. After taking it my symtoms are well controlled and I feel normal.

I've been taking Pulmicort for several years now, and it has allowed me to keep my asthma under control where other medications failed. I am dealing with side effects such as dry mouth, bruising easy, and I'm prone to infections and get sick much easier than before I started taking the drug. However, the side effects are preferable to the asthma attack I would regularly have prior to taking the drug.

I have asthma and copd ! the cough and wheezing are gone ! I am able to breathe much easier and more deeply ! It has been a great change for me !

i use it in my neb twice a day

easier to breathe no shaking felt it open the lungs. fast acting brings relief

I didnt use my rescue inhaler or nebulizer nearly as much when taking this medicine but boy oh boy were the side effects horrible! After taking two puffs each day for about 2-3 months, I started to notice that my vision was extremely blurry. I would also have the worst mood swings that I would blame on PMS but it would last much much longer. I've also gained weight and couldnt understand why. (Before Pulmicort, I was doing prednisone and Advair, resp.) Ugh!

I also have the BP issue when I start this drug. My Dr. also tells me to keep taking it instead of looking at alternatives. Even after my BP was extremely high and he wanted me to start another med for the BP. I stopped the Pulmicort instead and my next visit (a week later) my BP dropped to 120/80. He still wanted me to take this medication as my breathing was worse! I refuse to take it more then once a day and only in the Spring and Summer when my symptoms worsen! By the way I have more then one Pharmacist tell me thay yes the medication can increase BP!!!

My Dr. put me on this medication and my BP increased. I go off of it and my BP returns to normal. I have asked to try other medications and he tells me to keep using the Pulmicort. I will only use it for a couple of weeks at a time when I am despirit for relief.

I think it is helping me a little.I have only took it for about two weeks.

not good

taking this medication for occasional flareups of my asthma which seem to be pretty bad as of recent. much more effective than albuterol treatments. ive noticed my appetite has increased significantly no weight gain but then again i work out fairly regularly. im also experiencing random joint pain. (ankle and shoulder) the fatigue is pretty annoying. even with these side effects i will pick pumicort over albuterol any day. it effectively relieves chest tightness and bronchospasms way better than any other treatment ive tried.

my young son took this medication for quite some time, starting around 3 months old. he swelled up and retained fluid, was sick all of the time, in the hospital every 3 months and at the doctor's office at least once a month. i stopped giving it to him and now his asthma only flares up every once in a while.

Have not been able to wean off oral steroids so allegist increased dose and had severe bronchial spasms, severe breathing, throat swelling, lips & eye swelling, chest pain & stomach ache-skin rash severe itching-mood swings & crying-would NOT recommend this medication

My 2 year old grandaughter has been on pulmicort for 1 year and 3 months...we still have to take her to the doctor every other week and we use more albuterol than we use pulmicort...She is also always put on prednisone along with the albuterol...and then we end up going back to the doctor and they put her on an antibiotic which cures her asthma symptoms too...She is typically sick two weeks out of 4...This medication is not controlling her asthma at all...

My two year old daughter has been taking this medication for over a year now and the side effects are horrible. She's been waking up in the middle of the night with night terrors, horrible behavior problems, agressive behavior, and not sleeping during the day. When I asked her doctor about this they blamed it on the normal "terrible twos" so I went researching on line and MORTIFIED to find so many parents complaining about these side effects. Which subsided after we took her off this medication and switch her to another one. I'm appalled at how many doctors push this medication knowing that these side effects do exist in young children just because it's worked in a handful of children to reduce their asthma symptoms.

I was on Pulmicort for two weeks, and my breathing got worse and worse until I ended up in the hospital. My doctor said it was just chance that it worked out that way, but I have to agree to disagree with her on that one. I switched to Advair, despite the warnings, and am doing better than I have in years.
