The appetite loss has been the most severe side effect (which I dont mind, I've lost 5 pounds so far), but the other side effects are eliminated completely by exercising immediately after taking the pill. I'm fortunate that I was already working out regularly before taking this medication, but I strongly recommend trying to exercise (even walking) if one were struggling with side effects. It works for me. The drug seems to be clearing my mind as I increase the dosages (started at 25 mg, then 50, etc.). I played the violin when I was young and at a very definite point about 10 years ago seemed to lose my ability. Luckily I kept my violin because I seem to have picked up where I left off 10 years ago! Could be coincidental? Feel free to email me.
To now, nothing seems bad and no side effects, even I eat what I ever want with no problems ( don't do this please )
I suppose since it's a 'poison' to kill the bacteria it's natural to assume it would be poisonous to US in some way.. but they need to put that on the label. Not as "possible" side-effects, but as DEFINITE side-effects. I'd have scheduled some 'recovery' time from work instead of being caught off guard like that.
I have not had any side effects at all in the four years I've been taking Crestor.
I am unable to take statins to lower cholesterol so MD suggested niaspan.Before taking this med I read all of the patient comments and was cautious making sure to take with yogurt, vitamin C and aspirin.Took this med for 2 months without any problems. Sudden occurence of side effects. Took one whole aspirin, and milk while having side effect. I am an RN and based on my professional experience would not advise anyone to continue taking this drug after such a reaction. Called my MD who advised continuing to take drug. I will not - will continue to manage the cholesterol level with diet and exercise.
