Cyred EQ: Uses, Side Effects, Warnings, and Dosing Information

Generic Name: Cyred EQ (desogestrel-ethinyl-estradiol)

Cyred EQ Reviews

For Birth Control "I started taking Cyred EQ about 2 months ago. In the first two weeks I noticed a change in my skin. I have really oily skin and am prone to breakout mostly around that time of the month. My skin has been way less oily and I have very few active cysts. After about three weeks I noticed some pretty severe changes in my mood. I was extremely irritable and over emotional. There were a few days I couldn't get out of bed and I had some pretty dark thoughts. I didn't think it was the pill initially. I have suffered with depression in the past but never anything remotely thus intense. This went on for about 3 weeks before I started to feel like myself again. Also, I have been taking it without the placebo week. I began spotting and got a pretty mild breakout right around the time I noticed improvements in my mood. I plan to continue taking it but I am concerned about the depression returning after the spotting stops. I can't comment on how effective it is at preventing pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for 10 months. I initially had mood swings worse than usual but over time it actually has helped with my depression. I know most people have the opposite affect but not with me. I was severely depressed starting it and it subsided over time. Not sure if it was the related to birth control or not. I got this pill specifically for acne and it has helped some. I don't get cystic painful pimples anymore but I do get normal acne still. Not sure about the effectiveness of pregnancy so can't comment on that part. Over all I like it. And it's made my periods less painful and shorter."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Cyred-Eq for about 11 months now. Overall, the drug was effective at preventing pregnancy however some of the side effects were uncomfortable. When I first started taking the Cyred-Eq I experienced 0 side effects, amazing! However, soon after that, the cystic acne started, which lasted for about 6 months before it went away mostly. It seemed to take my body 6 months to get used to the pill. However, once the acne started going away then so did my libido. In addition to having reduced desire, I also developed vaginal dryness, reoccurring UTIs, and burning pain during sex. At this point, I was about to stop the pill but I'm going to try and give it another couple of months to see if any of these symptoms subside before I consider changing what I'm doing. On the plus side, I didn't gain any weight, haven't experienced any appetite changes, and haven't experienced any more mood changes."

For Birth Control "i was on Cyred EQ for about six months. I took it at night, and after taking it I was extremely tired. I can’t imagine what would happen if I had taken it during the day. My acne cleared up a little bit, but not all the way; still a few pimples here and there. I was also more irritable, lashing out at family and crying about anything that stressed me out. I had major anxiety while taking this. I was also sort of dry down there and lost my libido."

For Birth Control "have taken cyred in the past with no major issues. Now 6 months in with cyred eq, I have developed severe anxiety induced panic attacks. It took a few weeks of trying to figure out why I was getting such irrational anxiety and fears when I have NO prior history whatsoever. It's this pill. I am stopping this pill immediately"

For Birth Control "I first thought this pill was amazing. It stopped my cramps and cleared my face. But 4 months on the pill I switch from Cyred to Cyred EQ. I immediately could feel the difference in my body. I became very sad and emotionally unstable about anything. I also became sad and depressed. I decided to get off the pill."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this birth control for over a year now. I still experience breast tenderness but it's nothing out of the blue for me as I experienced this before without birth control, as well as during and after my pregnancy. I did have mood swings for the first few months after taking it but that could also be due to post partum. I told my provider that I've always had irregular periods (ever since I first got my period, some times weeks at a time), acne since I reached my 20s (in my 30s now), and horrible/debilitating cramps. This has made my period so much shorter and without a lot of my previous painful symptoms, as well as helped even out my acne break outs (they're manageable now). Also want to note that I've had depression and anxiety prior to starting this birth control and I haven't felt any worse than usual."

For Birth Control "This birth control did amplify my anxiety and it made me undergo a depressive episode for the first 4 months. Got some acne here and there but nothing too severe. Now I'm 7 months in and thankfully, I noticed an improvement (I also had a good support system so that helped quite a bit). Acne was gone too. I've always had light periods so there was no change in my period, although I did feel more cramping before my period would start. Overall, I'm able to tolerate this birth control, but it is different for everyone."
