This has helped me with some side effects. My doctor started me off VERY slowly since I am extremley sensistive to meds and was petrified to take this, but my anxiety had rocketed out of control. He started me on 2.5 mg per day, working up to current 15mg. I can't take all 15mg at once, so I take 5 mg. when I start breakfast, 5mg. when I'm done with breakfast and 5mg. at lunch. My doc advised me not to take it too late in the day since, for me, it got me sort of "revved up" and it was hard for me to sleep. I still don't sleep very well, but I have noticed this has taken me back to my "normal anxious" self. I'll never be a laid back person, but this has allowed me to feel more like myself. Perimenopause has really affected me in so many ways, and one of them was having my anxiety go off the charts. I have noticed some weight gain, but not sure if this is due to Buspar or menopause. On occassion I take a half a Xanax if my anxiety is really off the charts. Nothing is as effective for me as Xanax, but I'm very wary of being on that for any extended period of time. Was on Xanax when this all started for about a month and was getting rebound anxiety. None of my docs are fans of Xanax except for true situational reasons for very, very short periods of time.

So far Tricor has produced none of the other bad side-effects of the statin drugs, which knock me for a loop since I have FMS. I'm hoping that maybe if I take Tricor during the day instead of at night, the increased insomnia will go away. Will talk to my doctor soon about this. I have noticed an increase in hot flashes, however - which seems to be related here. However, if I can get the insomnia under control by taking it during the day, hot flashes are not that horrendous of a side-effect to put up with, and may go away with continued use. At this point I'm desperate for something that will lower my cholesterol since there are stroke events on both sides of my family. (BTW, I've tried herbal remedies with no positive effect.)

This med does not make me feel drugged. I just fall to sleep. No side effects that I know of.

TAKE THE TIME TO ENTER YOUR EXPERIENCE... PLEASE. This drug needs to be recalled. After trying to help my, usually happy well adjusted, daughter through the same severe side effects other patients have listed on this site, I wondered how many other women have visited this site and not shared their experience. PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE! If you have suffered, and I know this is REAL suffering, the same side effects, BLOW THIS SITE UP with your comments. Then maybe someone like the FDA will take notice. If you know anyone who has committed suicide or thought about it, see if they were or are on this drug. This drug IS that bad.

After weighing the medication side effects and his cough, I have decided to discontinue the medication. I can't see having my child take a medication that has altered his mental and physical state to cure a non life threatening cough. I wish that my pediatrician would not have been so quick to pull out the prescripion tablet without knowing all the facts about the medication she approved for my son.
