"I've had fibromyalgia for 5 years, only formally diagnosed in January this year. So, I have suffered. I tried Pregabalin but couldn't tolerate it. I asked to try Tramadol and what a difference, they are a wonderful drug for fibro pain, to alleviate anxiety and lift your mood most probably because you don't feel overwhelmed with pain. "I prescribe Tramadol for patients, for some it does not work because you must have the enzyme to convert it. For the people who have the converting protein, it is a wonder medicine. For many with fibromyalgia & chronic pain, it works well and allows them to continue working & activities. For all medications, there are reasonable limits to the amount used, and precautions for some when tapering and discontinuing. With Tramadol, slowly taper and discontinue, do not stop cold turkey. I found Tramadol to be effective with 1 or 2 tablets (50 mg) a day, occasionally on a severe pain day I must take up to 200 mg in 24 hours. 4 days a week I only take 1 tab!"
"This is the only medicine that has worked to relieve my fibromyalgia pain (burning, aching in my legs) and allows me to function again. Because of the opioid problem and my move out of state, I could not get a doctor to prescribe, although I only was able to see physician assistants. Now that I moved again and found a good doctor that I see who understands fibromyalgia, I am back and able to work. I could not work for 2 years without it. Very grateful to have it. "I've got fibromyalgia, as well as osteoarthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome-C, anxiety/depression, and ulcers. I've tried EVERYTHING, but because my tummy is so sensitive, most medicines make my constipation problem worse, or upset my stomach. Plus, the 'usual' side effects of many medicines (feeling hungover, bloating, weight gain, etc.) can be just as debilitating as the condition itself. Tramadol helps with ALL of my problems without unbearable side effects! My doctor wanted me to wean off of it, so I tried other medicines again (gabapentin, Cymbalta) but my body just does not like any of them. I am quite thin, and only take 25-50 mg a day (I cut the pills in half!) and this works for me. I have not had to increase this dosage and it's been about a year."
"Tramadol is my miracle. I've had fibromyalgia for about 6 years, but I've had depression & anxiety my whole life, sometimes severe. This not only combats that tricky fibromyalgia pain but makes me feel better emotionally. I find that my focus is better, my mind sees things with more clarity (maybe because I'm not in pain) & my depression is nil. Traditional opiates don't work for my type of physical pain and I hate their tiring effect. Tramadol doesn't cause fatigue - for me, it eliminates it without making me jumpy or manic. "I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia six years ago - have tried everything (and I mean EVERYTHING, from Amitriptyline to Zoloft & all combinations!) Nothing works as well as Ultram, and nothing else comes close (for me) with as little side effects. Not sure why docs don't want to prescribe this sometimes? I've read posts about the 'addictive' factor. Well, I took Vicodin daily for years and that isn't any better! I took Vicodin with various antidepressants (not much help there) Tramadol is safer than Vicodin - easier on your organs. QUALITY OF LIFE matters, and this medicine takes the edge off of pains, aches, depression AND anxiety (including social anxiety). I take 50mg twice a day & feel almost normal - happy, I laugh more, do more. Grateful for this med!"
"My legs and feet hurt me so very much. When I arose in the morning, I would need to hang on to the chair rail and take a few steps at a time to get used to the pain in my legs and feet. This happened to me around 5 years ago. Then I found tramadol. It is a miracle. I have hardly any pain. I have energy. I am in great moods all the time. I submit blood every year so the doctor can run panels on my organs, and there is never any damage to them. I hope I never have to stop taking it."
"I have taken Tramadol for about five years. It has been a miracle drug for me. After having suffered through all the symptoms of fibromyalgia, my biggest complaint was the tiredness and lack of energy. After taking Tramadol the first time, I had a noticeable increase in energy and general well-being. I now take 100 mg three times a day. Although the effects are not as noticeable as before, it still helps to increase my energy to where I am able to be more productive. One 7.5 mg Norco and two Tramadol every four to six hours have helped me get through the day. My mom and two sisters also have this disease. My daughter was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She is currently using CBD oil, and so far it has been somewhat effective. Like so many of us with this disease, I’m praying for the cure."
"I managed my fibromyalgia pain for many years with exercise, rest, and stress management, although always in some pain and with fatigue. I was prescribed Tramadol three months ago when the morning pain, back pain, and overall fatigue was greatly diminishing my quality of life (ability to roll over or get out of bed, exercise, do housework, focus on the job, and feelings of helplessness). "I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for 14 years. I am sensitive to all the medications usually recommended to treat it: Lyrica, Cymbalta, Savella, amitriptyline, and gabapentin. They all give me agonizing headaches and make my brain feel like it's going to blow up. So my doctor started me on Tramadol 6 years ago, and what an amazing thing, the pain was much better. After all that time, I am now on the maximum dose per day, and I know I am physically dependent. But it is still the only medication that I can take long term that takes the edge off my fibro pain enough for me to function and work full time. I have also developed osteoarthritis, and it helps with that, too. The only NSAID I can tolerate is naproxen."
"I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 2 days ago and prescribed Tramadol at that time. I have already noticed that I have more energy, am thinking more clearly, and am able to concentrate better. I experienced some flushing in the chest and face, but no itching or burning. I have noticed an odd feeling at night - I take Seroquel to sleep - but nothing negative. I woke up this morning with very little pain and felt rested for the first time in over 15 years! I feel younger and more energetic than my 37 years. These side effects are minor and so far I am happy with the medication and my doctor!"
"I was prescribed Ultram a few months ago when I was in a severe fibromyalgia flare. It worked so well I asked my Dr. to keep me on it. She prescribed 100mg/day in divided doses but told me that a friend of hers took 2 every morning and was doing very well on it. I try not to take it on a regular basis to avoid addiction. The worst part of taking it is that when the pain returns, it returns with a vengeance! That's when I want to take another dose, but I don't because I know I will end up taking more and more to get the same relief. I didn't realize I was in such extreme pain until I didn't feel it while taking the Ultram. I do have to take 100mg to get relief."
"I was prescribed Tramadol for slipped disc pain. It did not help one bit. BUT-I noticed immediately how energized it made me feel. I have been suffering from decreased amounts of energy for years, to the point where I sometimes did not even have energy to breathe. Tramadol has changed my life. I take 50mg a day and have never needed to increase the dose. 50mg still does the job, after 4 years. It gives me 4-6 h to complete the most necessary tasks. Yes, it is addictive and the daily dose is missed, the suffering is pretty intense. But so what? Life wouldn't be possible without Tramadol anyway. I am grateful for the slipped disc for giving me Tramadol. Pain is NOTHING compared to debilitating fatigue."
"I have been suffering with fibromyalgia for years. Tramadol was prescribed to me for another short-term condition. Since it was short-term, I had plenty left. One achy day, I used tramadol in fear of stomach bleeding by combining ibuprofen and Celexa. That’s when I learned tramadol not only relieves the aches and pains of fibromyalgia but also relieves the fatigue. Pain relief also seemed to last much longer than ibuprofen. Of course, I asked my doctor to prescribe it to me for fibromyalgia, and I could tell she was hesitant but went ahead anyway. I had to switch doctors, and of course, this doctor refused to give it to me, so I’m back to lying in bed and missing a lot of work due to the aches and fatigue. For me, this medicine was a miracle drug. I’d suggest it to anyone suffering with fibromyalgia."
"I have been taking Tramadol for over 2 years now, and it has been helpful for my arthritis and fibromyalgia pain. It does not make the pain go away, nothing I have tried does, but it does dull it enough that I am not clenched up in a ball in bed in sharp pain all the time as I was before taking it. I wish it would last longer though. I start to feel relief about 2 hours after taking it and it wears off at 4 hours after taking it. Since I take it every 6 hours, I am still at extreme levels of pain most of the time. But for the 2 hours it is helpful, I can manage to do basic tasks like get dressed, bathe, hold a pen, and open doors, which I am unable to do without it. I do not have any 'goofy' side effects with Tramadol, so that is also good for me."
"Before taking Tramadol I was living off of ridiculous amounts of Vicodin and Aleve. I was still in considerable pain and I knew I was becoming addicted to the hydrocodone. I took Tramadol not expecting anything, and I was blown away. I can do my job again (waiting tables) without needing to collapse in pain by the end of the day, and my boyfriend no longer has to sleep on the couch because it hurts my back to be in the same bed! It does cause me some nausea, but that has gotten better as I take it regularly. The pain does come back if I miss a dose, but I now only need 1-2 pills to live a normal life, not 10 or more a day. The only downside to this medicine is it causes me awful constipation."
"I was recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I take 50 mg of Tramadol when I'm having a 'bad pain day,' which is about 3 times per week. Tramadol seems to take the edge off the pain as well as increase my energy level and put me in a better mood. Downsides: it usually causes a mild upset stomach (for the first 30-60 minutes), it takes about an hour to kick in, and rarely it makes me a little nauseous. Overall, I'm pleased with this drug. My provider had told me that Hydrocodone/Oxycodone medications will worsen my Fibromyalgia syndrome in the long run, but that taking Tramadol as needed is a good method of treatment."
"This tramadol has been a godsend for my fibro. My doc originally prescribed this to me for bursitis in my hip. To my surprise, it helped more for my fibro symptoms. I'm 40 and have had symptoms since my late teens. My doc was surprised when I told her it's helping more than anything ever has. She said it usually makes fibro worse. As I read some of the positive comments, I can totally relate. It makes me not think about the pain and gives me energy and also helps with my depression sometimes. The only thing I don't like that I have noticed is around 6 hours after taking it, it makes me very drowsy and fuzzy. There are times, though, it keeps me awake too. Some days I only take half. Also, I found that if I have to clean or work on a project, I take it before I start, because I know my body and I will be hurting if I don't."
