My doc put me on this drug for my hypertension, and told me to watch for cough, as the most distressing symptom. I never experienced that, but did have headaches a lot, even when my BP was not elevated. That could be attributed to it. It worked mediocre, I'd say, for me. It lowered my BP sometimes, but wasn't consistent. It might be 110-132 when I'd first wake up, and throughout the day, would be in the 130s to 150s, sometimes as much as 160. It just depended. I also started on Synthroid at the same time, and began having other symptoms such as: hair loss, weight gain, nipple discharge, irregular menstruations, headaches, and dizziness. The dizziness was only the first 2 days. So I attributed many of these symptoms being from the synthroid. After discussing with my doc, he thinks many of these (minus the female problems) are side effects of the Zestoretic. He's seen this in other patients and discussed it before with pharmacists. Due to my BP not being lowered as much as he wants and the ill-effects of the diuretic part of the drug, he is discontinuing this drug and starting me on another one.

Zero Side effects!! As I read these reviews I have to wonder about these individuals overall health as to why they're having the issues they're having. As far as I'm concerned this is a miracle drug!

Worked great to lower BP but the side effects were awful. During the day i was fine. In the evening I felt like I was plugged into an electrical socket, very nervous, creepy crawling feelings. The side effects got worse each day.

I have taken Sudafed for years due to chronic sinus allergies. It worked very well on my congestion. Recently had intestinal bleeding that required hospitalization. Diagnosed with ischemic colitis, very serious injury to colon, and was told Sudafed can contribute to this because it acts as a vasoconstrictor, making blood vessels tighten up. Ischemic colitis is a rare side effect, but wanted to post here as a caution to others. I'm in good health and never had problems with Sudafed before, never knew this could be a danger. Now, I can never take it again.

I have been taking Miralax (single dose on a daily basis) since 2003. I take it upon awakening and then follow up with an enema (usually a dilute Fleet enema during the week, and a larger enema on weekends or before travelling), since my GI doctor diagnosed my condition as caused by slow colon motility (due in part to life-saving abdominal surgery -treatment of volvulus which resulted in temporary colostomy - performed in 1981). When first prescribed by my GI Specialist, I found Miralax to be a good laxative; but noted that it also caused extensive and uncomfortable bloating. My GI Specialist suggested that those side effects might be offset by an enema. As I write this in November 2009 (after a visit to my GI Specialist in Sept 2009) - Miralax (along with 2-3 additional glasses of water), followed up with an enema, than by 20-30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise (which increases peristalsis) has dramatically improved my quality of life. The above comments have been shared with doctors, nurses, paramedics, PA's and other medical professionals; who all concur with my strict daily regimen. This regimen (according to my GI Specialist) has prevented the need for decompression or to remove my colon.
