For Local Anesthesia "Maybe I was too explicit about the anal fissure I am treating, partially with Xylocaine 2%. I'm also using 0.2% Nifedipine gel. It's not a simple subject. There are no reviews. Here is one! It requires some description. I am using it internally, twice daily. The applicator tube becomes dirty/hard to clean properly. I started using my finger carefully, trimming my nails. Starting with the center of your fingerprint, not the tip of the finger, to avoid scratching with your nail. It reduces but does not eliminate the pain. It increases range of motion without pain. It does build-up and has a longer-lasting effect when used every day. It's quite expensive. I want to ask my doctor for 5%, especially if it's almost the same price. That might be too strong and make me lose control of my bowels. I will consult my doctor. I don't think so. I'm still in pain. I haven't come close to having an 'accident.' It does very little for piles (hemorrhoids)."
For Local Anesthesia "I've come back to re-review (Brand Name) Xylocaine 2% gel (Lidocaine HCL 2%). Everything I said before is true. It does build up but only lasts 2-3 hours. Then you have to wait until the evening (2X daily dose). The applicator tube is short/hard plastic and useless (it's 1 inch from base to tip, not long enough). It expands with a steep angle/degree. Ouch! I can barely bend over. How am I supposed to use this by myself? Even after following directions, using more gel all over the tip than I should for a 'smooth entry,' I still use my finger very carefully. It's gross. At least I'm in the bathroom next to a sink. I can wash my hands, scrub under my nails. I have given the 1 finger a 'manicure' to ensure I don't hurt myself. Maybe I have a terrible fissure. I can barely walk. I'm like 'Quasimodo,' climbing up a staircase. Either way, 2% isn't doing the job. Better than nothing, but I've been stuck in bed. Tingles, total numb. Passing out from pain for over a week."
