For the first time in my life, I experienced a case of bacterial sinusitis where there was sinus congestion that progressed into severe congestion with purulent discharge. At around 10 or 12 days, it starte to cause pain in my upper cheekbones, head, and by day 14 I had pain in my teeth. I realized this was not the typical congestion I have had in the past and went to see a physician who prescribed the Zithromax. Within 24 hours, there was relief and by day three I was basically cured. First time I took antibiotics in 20 years so I was a bit concerned about side effects but surpringly had none at all.

I've been taking Ambien every night since 1999. Sure I read the side effects from the package, but it wasn't emphasized as a major side effect, nor did my doctor mention them. I didn't realize that my unremembered noctural activities had anything to do with the Ambien. In the beginning, they were mainly phone conversations I had no recollection of having, finding an empty bottle of alcohol in the recycle bin (I'm not a drinker and this was a partial bottle at least 7-8 years old), partially cooked meals, food spilled in my bed, etc. These things began to happen more frequently. My partner often tried to direct me back to bed, but said I would get very agitated and angry. I wasn't sure I believed him. Then last year, while sharing a room with my sister and her family, I got up in the middle of the night, still sleeping, rummaged through my luggage, found some dried fruit, and proceeded to try to feed everyone. I had absolutely no memory of it. Now sometimes, there's a positive.

I took Cipro for 10 days. This was in 1997. The fatigue, anxiety, and depression still bother me. Most doctors don't know about these severe side effects and unfortunately probably won't believe you if you tell them.

I have taken Flagyl numerous times in the past for treatment of Crohn's disease (approx. 7 days at a time) with only mild nausea and darkened urine. Believe the extreme side effects this time are related to the high doses and long-duration I have had to take the Flagyl throughout hospitalization, surgery, and at home. Was not educated on serious potential side effects. Thought I was going crazy until reading detailed side effect information online today. Only had 2 more days on Flagyl so going to stop taking immediately in hopes that I begin to feel more myself again very soon.

However, I have side effects that are less desirable which include, ankle swelling, tingling feet, knee and back pain, stomach discomfot, brain fog, fatigue and inability to sleep at bedtime.
