I first went on b/c to have lighter periods since I was taking JROTC in high school. I thought the chest pain was from working out since I normally don't work out and I thought being emotional was from a friend moving away until I became emotional over everything and went from "daddies little girl" to not being able to stand him. I decided maybe the sideffects would eventually go away so I continued to take the pill. After being on it around 8 months I decided to go off it b/c it wasn't helping except for cramps. I had to wear a liner almost every day for 8months and got tired of it. When I went off the pill everything went back to normal. 3months after stopping I went back on it b/c my bf wanted me too BIG MISTAKE!!!! I was on it for a little over a month and gained over 20lbs. Since I'm overweight to begin with it worried me. One night I couldn't go to sleep because chest pains were so bad it felt like I could bairly breathe. (I thought chest pains were from Exercise the first time, the 2nd time I wasnt exercising as much) I threw the 2nd pack away after taking 6pills (during period) and my period was 2weeks long. Which started July 14th. It is now Aug. 19th and I haven't gotten my period yet as of now. (I haven't had sex after I stopped taking it) I do not recomend this b/c to anyone.On a side note, my friend is taking the same b/c and lost her appetite.

With sufficient dosage (100 mg) and sufficient time to acclimate, Pristiq is as good as Effexor XR ever was, but has very little in the way of tangible side effects. I am very even-tempered, but do not feel numbed-out emotionally or physically. Energy level is pretty good, mind reasonably clear for a guy entering early geezerhood.I was on the minimum dose for Effexor XR, so my Dr. initially put me on 50 mg Pristiq. This did not work. Upon reporting this to her, she put me on 100 mg Pristiq. First 10 days were NOT a lot of fun, then everything smoothed out.A word regarding soem of the previous responses here: You cannot judge ANYTHING about an SSRI or SNRI in a few days. Unless your are experiencing extreme anguish that is different from how you previously felt, or you have some kind of new life-threatening physical symptoms, give the drug a chance! It really does take quite a few weeks before your brain chemistry settles into a new stable pattern. I know very well that patience in the face of severe depression is very difficult, but please try to muster it up, and give timely and accurate feedback to your doctor.

I was extremely skeptical to take this drug as I have read some negative feedback from previous people taking it. But I really wanted to quit and I was unable to do it on my own. The first week it was hell basically I wasn't myself, feeling depressed, tired and extremely lazy. The second week it got better. By the third week while taking 2 x day (1mg pill) I was feeling always nauseas and I hated feeling that way, so I just decided to take 1 x day (1mg) and feel much better. I haven't smoked since Dec 8th. I did try to have one just to see if I still like it but the smell and the nicotine did not do anything for me, so I knew that I am slowly weaning myself from cigarettes. I think what people need to understand is that it will take some time before you actually start feeling like yourself again. Any drug out there has some kind of side effect. I do agree also that this drug is not for everyone. I'm just glad that I am smoke free and I hope to be this way forever.

It work great on reducing cholesteral level, but its side effects became another problem for me. I will discuss it with my doctor in my next visit.

The nausea and headaches were bearable. I ended up coming off of Yaz because of the hives and mood swings. Hives are not a normal reaction. I had a severe allergic reaction to Alesse birth control pill when I was 16 and it just so happens that the estrogen in Yaz and Alesse are the same, apparently I'm allergic to synthetic estrogen. At any rate what was absolutely unbearable were the mood swings. My gynecologist explained to me that it is trial and error with birth control pills as far as side effects go and every body is different. In my case I'm a stay at home mom with an eight month old and the mood swings got to the point where I didn't feel like I could control my anger. I didn't want to get to the point where I was losing my cool with my baby and I feel it would have gotten to that point if I had continued with Yaz.
