This eventually increased the frequency of my outbreaks and the side effects are terrible. I am now trying to detoxify my body from the drug and am only taking a prescription pain med for the worst of the shingles nerve pain. Am beginning to feel better and will try to minimize outbreaks by stress reduction, relaxation techniques and good nutrition & gentle exersize.

I was taking 10 mg with no obvious side effects except occasional nausea. My doctor raised the dosage to 20 mg and within a month I had constant nausea and stomach pains. I told my doctor they were the same symptoms I had when I took Synthroid, which has lactose, and I thought there was a lactose problem. He looked up the lactose amount and found that the 20 mg dose had twice the amount of lactose as the 10 mg. He switched me to lactose-free fluvastatin and I am fine now.

I have been taking Luvox and Klonopin for years to help battle my depression and anxiety. Recently I noticed that I was feeling depressed for extended periods of time. In light of this, I contacted my doctor and we determined that I should take a mood stabalizer, Lamictal to help with the depression. In the past I tried several different medications mostly SRIs with terrible side effects. Luvox worked the best in terms of tolerable side effects until now. I've been really depressed while taking Luvox and frustrated and angry because I'm tired of taking medications and dealing with the side effects. It has now been 14 days on Lamictal and I do feel that it has helped with my depression but has also added 5lbs. of weight gain to my body. This is not acceptable - I used to be a size 2 and I'm not fitting into any of my clothes! After reading other comments from several people on this website with a similiar problem of weight gain, I'm going off, it is not worth it!

Please listen to what your doctor says about your health condition before reading these comments as everyone is different and therefore respond differently to the same medication. Fosamax is a great drug and I've seen heaps of people whose bones were kept strong and healthy because of it. If it weren't for Fosamax, they wouldn't be able to walk around and do that sort of things as they do so now. If you do find you have any complaints or feel that you experience any side effects, it's always best to tell the doctor and he'll help you figure out an alternative. Booklet instructions are always a great helping tool, and it's good to follow the guidelines on Fosamax, e.g. take half an hour before breakfast and a big glass of water, etc. Please don't just stop taking it just because you hear other people do so, they could be causing alot of problems to their health because of it .. don't make the same mistake!
