Generic Name: Tapazole (methimazole)

Tapazole Reviews

For Hyperthyroidism "A serious bout of autoimmune hyperthyroidism had me very sick, traditional docs wanted to use RAI, radiation to kill off the thyroid, fortunately I read up on some Japanese and European studies that showed Tapazole/methimazole solves the problem without killing the victim-thyroid. I fired the docs, got new ones at a major medical center, and started Tapazole therapy. It took a closely monitored, gradually reduced dosing over 10 months, but I got well thanks to this miracle medicine."

For Hyperthyroidism "I’ve been on Tapazole for several weeks now. I’ve seen many negative experiences online and wanted to share my early positive experience. I am currently on a low dose, and within the first 3 weeks, my hyperthyroidism has responded very well - levels were extremely high before and have come down to the upper end of the normal range. TSH is still low, but I’m told that takes longer to respond to treatment. The first few days on Tapazole were challenging but manageable: headaches, tiredness, overall feeling blah. I experienced some swelling from water retention as well as itchy skin. A couple of weeks in and most drug side effects have disappeared, and a lot of hyperthyroid symptoms have improved too. My heart is still racing, but overall I’m happy I tried this drug."

For Hyperthyroidism "Diagnosed with Graves’ disease. My thyroid ultrasound was unremarkable. The biggest symptoms before starting 5 mgs a day was moderate itching mainly at night. The very first night of taking it and all my skin, itchiness issues were a thing of the past. First follow up in 2 weeks So far so good."

For Hyperthyroidism "Third update, been on Tapazole for 6 months, initially 3 pills, then the last 2 months 1 pill. A week ago I got skin rash on my arm doctor told me to stop the med for 1 week until rash gets better and he will prescribe me something else. Today I got called by endo and told me do blood test to check levels again. I got a call from the hospital and they told me my t4 went from 25 to 100 and my t3 from 7 to 30. They asked me if I had any palpitation or any other bad effect I said no. They told me if you feel anything go to ER right away. Of course with this news my heart went up to 135 palpitations so I went ER. The doc at ER called another endo and I got prescribed propylthiouracil and back to propranolol. I can't believe 1 week of this will take me from 25 to 100 not even when I got diagnose the hyper it was 33 only. appointment tomorrow with my endo i think ill go radio active iodine. too many side effects."
