Have not noticed any side effects...Works wonderfully. Have been taking it for over 4 years.

Nausea, confusion, exhaustion, fatigue, depression, bloating, and diarrhea 10-12 times per day, which was what I was being treated for after taking clindamycin for 5 days for a tooth infection. First day on metronidazole I almost passed out, from then on felt like I had the flu for the 10 long days of treatment (500mg 4x per day). My joints ached terribly, a horrible taste lingered in my mouth 24/7. This is the worst medication I have ever taken. I have been off for 1 week and still have diarrhea 7-10 x per day but all of the other side effects went away one day after I stopped taking this poison.

Before starting Topamax I was experiencing as many as 3 migraines daily. Imitrex was not always working. I was not coping well at all. I have been on Topamax 200 Mgs. going on 5 months now and I experience approximately 1 or 2 at the most migraines at the in a month. I can deal with the side effects just to have my life back.

As an aside, I had chronic idiopathic urticaria when I was younger (still comes back every now and then). To keep it under control, I took a combo of Tagamet (yes, the stomach acid medicine) and Claritin. My doctor said there is a secondary ingredient in Tagamet that works like Benadryl, but without the sleepy side effects. It might be worth discussing with your doctor if you are trying to find a non-itch solution.

Itching around the entire body including private areas. Stomach ache cannot call it pain but nothing like I've felt in a stomach ache. Vomiting. Lower than normal heart rate. Feeling like I had to tell myself to take a breath, overall feelings of fatigue, needing to nap (normally not a nap taker). Swelling of tongue and inside mouth, bumps inside mouth, physically forcing myself to swallow food. Needing to eat but cannot. After third day a total sense of doom took over. Honestly the only thing that calmed me down was reading the list of side effects and connecting the dots as to why I was feeling like this.Notes I am allergic to penicillin.
