Zofran Reviews

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have been taking this medication at least once a week for about four years now. I have terrible stomach issues now that I no longer have my gallbladder that cause stomach pain, nausea and no appetite, as well as anxiety that manifests as nausea and stomach pain. I also have a HUGE fear of vomiting. This pill has always worked and kept me from vomiting, but on occasion the nausea sticks around but it’s nothing too terrible. I don’t know what I would do without this medication. It helps me live a normal life. I take 4 mg every 4-6 hours as needed, if it’s a rough day I’ll take 8 mg every 6-8 hours. The only downfall is the side effect of constipation, but as someone who is terrified of vomiting, I’ll take the constipation over vomiting any day."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I take oxycodone for chronic persistent back pain because of spinal stenosis. As a result, I frequently have nausea and vomiting, roughly 4-5 times a week. My pain management doctor always prescribes Zofran which doesn’t help in the slightest. I tell him this, but he keeps prescribing it nonetheless. He says it is safe and doesn’t make you sleepy. I say if it doesn’t work, what good is it? My GI doctor gave me Phenergan, which does help, but he tells me to go back to the pain guy to get more. I go back, tell him, yet he just gives me more Zofran. DON'T YOU JUST LOVE PHYSICIANS WHO LISTEN TO THEIR PATIENTS (sarcasm)."

For Gastroenteritis "God bless the manufacturers of Zofran! I am phobic about vomiting - panic attacks just thinking about it. That little miracle dissolves on my tongue and takes away the nausea and fear. It has saved me trips to the ER for gastric issues. I never want to be without it."

For Gastroenteritis "Salute to the inventor of this medicine Ondansetron. I have IBS-D and with severe flatulence discomfort and a suffocating feeling. After taking the mouth-dissolving tablet, it acts like a miracle. At first, all the entrapped gas in the abdomen comes out in the form of belching and burping, and thereafter the normalcy comes to the body and mind. All other medicines have not worked. This is great."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have generalized anxiety disorder and suffer from emetophobia. The anxiety causes stomach upset, and the fear of throwing up increases the anxiety in a vicious cycle. My psychiatrist prescribed Zofran while I was trying out SSRIs to help me get through the first few weeks of side effects. I am now on Celexa with a lot less anxiety and only take Zofran as needed! It works great, it just makes me feel sleepy. Haven't run into any constipation yet."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I've taken this medication on various occasions, and honestly, it's a lifesaver. Today, I woke up with a stomach bug. I got out of bed, drank a glass of water, and not even five minutes later, I was bent over the toilet. I laid down, and maybe half an hour later, again within two hours, I had taken six horrible, dry heaving, painful, and exhausting visits to the bathroom. Finally, I rushed to the doctor, where it happened one more time before being seen. She quickly gave me one of these, and I haven't thrown up or felt nauseous since. I've been able to keep down liquids and solids with ease. I see this medication as a great tool to help me get better faster than expected!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have acute gastritis, and this medicine makes me feel worse. Too many side effects are associated with it. I feel more pain in my stomach, lightheaded, dizzy, and just overall bad. I was starting to feel better before I took this medicine, and now I have to wait for it to run its course."

For Gastroenteritis "Gastroenteritis is horrible. I started feeling sick and gassy on the first day. On the second day, I thought I was dying. The pain and burning were so bad that it made my chest hurt and I thought I was having a heart attack or anxiety attack. I went to the doctor, was prescribed Zofran, and it almost took the sickness away completely! Still, some burning in the lower abdomen, but finally some relief!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I had the norovirus last year and took Zofran, and it worked very well. The pills are small and dissolve easily on your tongue, so you don't have to drink water and risk throwing up the medicine. If possible, I think it would be great to offer this medication over the counter."

For Gastroenteritis "I have been on Zofran for 8 years, and it has been a lifesaver. I wake up nauseous every single day, and the Zofran works within a half hour, and I rarely need a repeat dose. I don't know what I would do without it!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) and have been miserable. Zofran is keeping me out of the ER right now. At first, I noticed it made me a little dizzy, and it still makes me feel just a little weird within the first hour, but it’s extremely tolerable. The constipation is super annoying, but talk to your doctor about it if that’s an issue, and you can probably take something to help that. It stops me from throwing up, but I am still definitely nauseous. Brings it from like a 10 to a 5 or 6 maybe, but I can EAT now. That is huge. I am eating small meals when I haven’t had a meal in weeks. I’ve been barely eating and drinking. I am completely dependent on Zofran to be any type of functional right now. It makes me a little tired but also gives me more energy to not just stay in bed all day because it makes me feel better. Highly recommend, just watch out for the side effects I mentioned. Nothing to be scared of, extremely tolerable for me :)"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Day 1 of what the docs think is the flu, first time puking in a long time. Couldn't hold down water or Pepto. Was so nauseous I was having dreams that were making it worse. Zofran has kicked my nausea, and now I can eat and drink again and therefore take ibuprofen and my flu meds. Holy cheese, Batman."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I’ve had a fear of vomiting for years (25+). Found out about this medication when my best friend had hyperemesis while pregnant, and it helped her stop vomiting. I asked my doctor if I could get it because I had such horrible anxiety about throwing up. I take Zofran 4-8 mg when I have bad nausea and anxiety, and it seems to help me. I did throw up once after taking it, but I think it was because I had worked myself up so much!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I suffer from both severe emetophobia (fear of vomiting) AND a panic disorder which causes nausea and gastric upset. I spent many years trapped in a horrible cycle of panicking any time I felt the slightest twinge of nausea, which in turn induced intense stomach upset, sometimes to the point of heaving. I've tried other anti-nausea medications in the past (Phenergan, Compazine), with so-so results, and the annoying side effect of extreme drowsiness. Zofran has been a real lifesaver for me. Within minutes of taking a pill, my nausea subsides. The only side effect I've experienced has been constipation, but I'll take that over vomiting any day!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I'm taking this for morning sickness. I feel like it has given me my life back. I lost over 6 lbs in 5 days due to nausea and vomiting and was too sick to do anything for my toddler, myself, or my home. I can tell when it's starting to wear off (at about 6.5-7 hr.) because the nausea comes right back. I'll take being backed up and a little drowsy as a side effect... It allows me to eat and keep things down and be present in my family's life. Never thought I'd be so happy to take a medication, but I'm SO thankful for Zofran."

For Nausea/Vomiting "The only medication that really does the trick. I have been prescribed it twice now due to a severe stomach virus, and it gave me relief after 20 minutes! I didn't throw up anymore afterwards, and it helped me sleep after a very restless night. Love it!"

For Gastroenteritis "Had gastroenteritis, couldn't stop vomiting. Called doctors on call, they came out at 2 a.m. and gave me a shot of Maxolon (which worked in the past). Was good for about an hour, and then it started again, every half hour until I felt like I was going to pass out. Went to the hospital, they gave me a Zofran wafer, and I stopped throwing up within 10 minutes. Felt terrible from dehydration, but the Zofran wafer stopped the vomiting in its tracks. I now keep Zofran wafers at home, let myself throw up 2-3 times when I get a stomach bug, and then pop a Zofran wafer to stop it. Best thing ever."

For Gastroenteritis "This is my miracle medicine. Best medicine I have ever taken in my life. Works for me in 1-2 minutes. Have nausea from acid reflux and feel instantly better. A little sleepy but it doesn't put me in a deep slumber. Love Zofran."

For Gastroenteritis "I took my 16-year-old daughter to the ER after stomach cramps and throwing up all day long. She was at the point where she was so thirsty that she would put water in her mouth and then spit it out because even a little water made her throw up. Once they gave her this medication, she was able to drink a full glass of water within minutes and walked out of the ER wanting Mexican (which she did not get). What a difference it made?"

For Nausea/Vomiting "Was diagnosed with cannabis hyperemesis about 2 months back. Unfortunately, at the time, it didn't seem like anything was going to work. Eventually, was admitted to the hospital due to severe dehydration. Body went into survival mode. Was throwing up for hours a day until dry heaving. About a month after symptoms started occurring again. Was given promethazine (which works great but sedation is tenfold) as well as it can only be taken for about 10 days at a time due to its harsh nature on the body. Started taking Zofran again, this time around it works. Knocks down the nausea from a 10 down to a 5 or 6 on good days. It really does help. I don't have any major side effects, aside from the constipation. No tiredness or dizzy spells. The activation time is about 30-60 minutes for me. Usually 4 mg every 8 hours. If that doesn't help, Benadryl 25mg 3x daily on top of it can also help with nausea."

For Gastroenteritis "I have used Zofran on two different occasions. Went to the doctor for assistance after a week of vomiting because I was so miserable and weak. Felt so much better within 30 minutes, I started eating the first thing I saw. The second time I used it to bypass the stomach flu that everyone was catching. I took it within 2 hours of symptoms, I fell asleep shaking, heart racing, with a fever and cold sweat, clutching a bucket to throw up in. Woke up 6 hours later feeling absolutely fine, just a little hungry."

For Nausea/Vomiting "I have Crohn's disease, emetophobia, and I also take quite a few pain meds for chronic pain, all of which make me extremely nauseous, so I suffer nausea a lot! Ondansetron is a lifesaver for me. I take 4 mg every 8-12 hours, and on a good day, some days I take 8 mg if it's really bad! I've been taking it daily for nearly 6 months, and it is still as effective as the first time I took it! I live in the UK, so I am fortunate that I don't have to pay eye-watering prices. I'd recommend it to anybody, it's brilliant."

For Gastroenteritis "I woke up at 5 a.m. with a terrible stomach virus. I swear I thought I was dying. It was coming out both ends and I was in terrible pain from the cramping. I had to lay on the floor by the toilet because I didn't have time to make it from the bed when the cramping hit me. I happened to remember that I had ondansetron (Zofran) in the medicine cabinet and my wife gave me one 8 mg tablet sublingual. I was better in fifteen minutes. Miracle drug!"

For Nausea/Vomiting "I was extremely hungover and was vomiting for about 14 hours non-stop before being prescribed Zofran. I know it seems silly to get medication for a hangover, but I was becoming dangerously dehydrated from binge drinking and heavy vomiting, as I was unable to keep even a sip of water down. Not even ten minutes after taking the medicine (dissolvable pills), I already felt significant relief from the nausea, and therefore the vomiting as well. A bit expensive, but completely worth it."

For Nausea/Vomiting "Last night I had severe diarrhea and stomach pain and dizziness, maybe I was dehydrated from the stomach bug, so I went to the ER and they said they were going to give me Zofran, which I have a phobia of trying new pills, but my stomach hurt so bad. I told the nurse I'd break it in half till I seen how small it was, and she said just let it dissolve on your tongue, so I did, and it had a strawberry flavor, which I told her, 'Wow, this tastes good.' Within about 5 minutes, my nausea had gotten so much better, it even relaxed me a bit. I'm telling you folks, if you have the stomach bug or stomach aches, give this a shot. I had no side effects at all, maybe a little sleepiness, but like others, I'll take that over the stomach pain. Thanks, Zofran."
