This was the most effective med for depression that I've taken... it stopped my suicidal/self harming urges as long as I didn't have a reason to feel suicidal. However, the constipation and dry mouth became too much and it wasn't helping my anxiety at all, so I stopped it. I had the withdrawal side effects (brain zaps, pins and needles, dizziness, stomach flu like symptoms, irritability, increased anxiety/depression) 5 days after I stopped taking it. They were/are pretty brutal, but this is my first time not being on anti depressants for SIX YEARS, so that might be part of the issue. That and buspar is making it worse.

I will be talking and a different word comes out and you are fully aware this just happened but you cant help it. Same goes for writing. I find myself double checking my texts before sending them, reading things 2X, kind of always in a fog, and my daughter has noticed this. Its very frusterating. I read that once you stop taking the coumadin the side effects are gone. I truly hope so because Im only 43 and I feel like Im losing my mind.

I wish I had not started taking this. I took it several years ago for similar problem and do not remeber the side effects im having now...

Serious weight gain despite very regular exercise, greatly decreased sex drive, spotting, fatigue, maybe more side effects that I don't even realize such as irritability (or is it just the kids?!)

I'm kind of tired looking on some of those pages about all of the bad stuff about anti-depressants. If it weren't for Paxil and then Effexor, I would not be enjoying my life the way I am. Many side effects I read on those crazy pages are depression symptoms, which means their medication or dosage isn't working! I had plenty of those symptoms PRIOR to going on the drugs. I now have a wonderful outlook on my life and do not wake up in the middle of the night anymore thinking of some terminal disease I'm convinced I have. I don't sleep all of the time and I am very happy most of the time. It changed me for the best.
