Please try to find an alternative medication for your needs. I am a therapist and there are many other medications out there that have much les potential for damaging addiction and side effects. If you are using it for reasons other than mental health, then don't be afraid to push your doctor for focusing on treating the core issue instead of the symptoms, which I think happens too often nowadays and patients end up more miserable than when they started. Don't be afraid to get second or third opinions, or to see specialists to get the care and treatment that you need. If you do want to try Effexor, please make sure you read up on all of the personal stories. There's plenty of info out there. If I had known then what I do now, then there's no way I would take it or encourage anyone I know to take it.I have spoken to more than one doctor who was COMPLETELY UNAWARE of the side effects, much less the withdrawal aspect of this drug, which is scary as hell. One told me that the withdrawal was "purely psychological", which is incredibly condescending and obviously uneducated. This tells me that a lot of doctors are simply not as knowledgable of the medications they are perscribing as we'd like to think they are. In addition, we are the ones who know are body the best, despite what they may think, so I do think it's important that we take our care into our own hands as much as possible.

Been calling my GP every week complaining about these symptoms and after 6 weeks of that, she has now prescribed antidepressants, which I will not be taking as I know now that I am not actually depressed, it is this horrible drug! I've taken this in the past and not had such bad side effects, this time around though, I've had the worst 6 weeks of my life. It has not just affected me but my family too, not played with my son for so long, been very little help with a newborn at home, it has taken such a toll on me and my family. No more of this medicine(poison) for me!

I've only been on it a day and a half and these side effects are killing me. I wake up with morning sickness and it lasts on and off throughout the day. I STRONGLY recommend that everyone gets a prescription for an anti-nausea pill. I'm taking Zoloft and so far it's helped to curb the extreme sickness. Its very rough to deal with the constant nausea. The other hard thing is you have to take Metronidazole with a lot of food and with the loss of appetite it makes it very difficult consume anything. Even the thought of food makes makes you gag. I have to take it 3 x's a day for one week. Another helpful tip: to get rid of that AWFUL taste, put some maple syrup in a spoon or plate and with your finger, roll the pill around in it until it's coated. Then chug quickly with a glass of milk. I did that for the first time today and i couldnt taste a thing! thank god.

It has knocked the infection right out of me, but I am not happy with the side effects. I will not take Biaxin again.

First time; flu like pain and fatigue. Had a second one a few days ago and my spine and legs are in severe pain. I am so tired I can barely get out of bed. Not happy. I am not sure why the second infusion caused so many more side effects. Hopefully my next scan will show marked improvement, if not, I will not take another infusion next year as suggested by my doctor.
